About Alberto Romani


This site is designed, coded and updated by me, Alberto Romani. I live in Milan, Italy with my dog Pippo. I’m a proud owner of a 2000 Tahiti Blue Mini Cooper Sport, and you might see it running around in this site across the pages. I am a freelance Visual Designer. I love web design, its standards, the user and visual design simplicity.

This site was designed as a place for me to show my professional work. Over the last 7 years, I’ve built a curriculum and portfolio that includes work for a variety of clients, from ground-floor start-ups to multi-national corporations. I hope that this site gives you a sense of what I’m capable of.


What I can do


Starting out, I was strictly a designer. My education was in graphic design, but I moved to the web quite soon after graduation. I’ve always had an interest in finding out how things worked, so as my years as a web designer have progressed, I’ve learned some web developer skills. I’m not a developer per se, but also like being able to do things from start to finish. Below are some of my skills.

  • Graphic Design: brand awareness, typography, colour management, animation, format optimisation, 3d, raster/vector layers.
  • IA: sitemaps, wireframes, flow charts, functional & user interface specifications, screen mock ups, storyboards, paper prototypes, high and lo-fidelity prototypes, navigational systems, information classification and categorisation, technical writing and editing.
  • UI Development: x/html, css, php, browser issues, web 2.0 methodologies, w3c standards compliance, flash/actionscript, ui testing and quality assurance.
  • Software: ms visio, ms office, dreamweaver, flash, fireworks, freehand, photoshop, illustrator, indesign, quark Xpress.
  • Project Management: set realistic project time-scale, details of resource requirements, identification of task slippage, early warning of problems, identify risk in projects, create an action plan to minimise the impact of these risks, progress reporting to ensure that people are kept informed.
  • Teamwork: developed through co-operative project works in order to achieve high quality results.


About this site


This site is built using Wordpress 2.8. The design and development of the Wordpress theme was accomplished on Mac OS X 10.5.7 using Adobe Photoshop for the design, Adobe Dreamweaver for hand-coding templates, and Captain FTP for FTPing files. I’ve installed Lightview, Wordpress plugins, along with Akismet for comment spam. A special thanks to Albino Tonnina for al his wonderful help throughout this long and painful process.
